5/1/26 Annual Meeting and start of the Election. Online Elections Ballot is sent to owners at the start of the Annual Meeting

5/15/26 Voting Ends at Store Closing

Commitment

The Board of Directors’ purpose is to create the long-term vision for our Co-op. They ensure that the Co-op remains financially healthy, stays committed to our Ends, and serves as representatives of all members.

The nine-member Board serves Davis Food Co-op members through annual elections. Directors serve three-year terms. They attend board meetings currently, every other month. Directors receive a 16.5% discount on Co-op Purchases.

What does the Board of Directors NOT do?

The Board of Directors does not make decisions about, become involved with, or take part in any of the day-to-day activities or decisions regarding the operation of Davis Food Co-op. The Board’s sole official connection to the operations of the cooperative is through the General Manager.

Next Meeting

3/9/26. Join us for the next meeting from 6-8pm. Food provided. Location TBD.

Minimum Requirements

  • Be a DFC shareholder in good standing.
  • Prepare for, attend, and participate in monthly Board meetings and the Annual Ownership Meeting in May.
  • Serve on one or two committees or task forces.
  • Attend and participate in a day-long annual retreat in the Fall and/or Spring.
  • Participate in Board training, as well as workshops, conferences, and DFC events throughout the year.
  • Regularly read and respond to email correspondence.
  • Devote time to learning about the co-op movement and the board decision-making tool Policy Governance.

How to become a Candidate for the Board

Member-Owners that are interested in running for a seat on the Board of Directors in 2026 must submit an application by filling out a Declaration of Candidacy form by 10pm on 1/31/26.
